2024 Lake Placid Residency

September 9-29, 2024

Beginning on September 9, Parsons Dance will return to Lake Placid Center for the Arts (LCPA) for a three-week residency at this stunning venue located in the Adirondack Park of Northern New York.  During the residency, we will create a new work with gifted choreographer Rena Butler, in addition to a public performance on September 20.

While in residency, our dancers will lead in-person and digital classes, along with workshops geared towards teaching the Parsons approach to contemporary dance. All workshops and open rehearsals are free and open to everyone, with all experience levels welcome. For more details, check out the schedule below.

    Contemporary with Luke Romanzi
    Tuesday, September 10 | 6:45-7:45pm

    This class fuses the idea of movement and technique while challenging the dancer to use their breath, plié, and carving of the spine to find grounded shapes, continuous movement and musicality. For ages 13+. In person and on Instagram Live.

    Ballroom with Zoey Anderson
    Wednesday, September 11 | 6:45-7:45pm

    This class fuses ballroom, cha cha, and samba with a touch of jazz exercising, a high-energy and exciting way to broaden your dance ballroom vocabulary and style. For ages 16+.

    Floor Work with Joseph Cyranski
    Thursday, September 12 | 6:45-7:45pm

    This highly physical and athletic class focuses on the distribution of weight between the ground, body, and space. For ages 13+.

    Yoga with Emerson Earnshaw
    Saturday, September 14 | 12:00-1:00pm

    An hour long class meant to ignite the connection of breath, movement, and poses. For ages 13+. In person and on Instagram Live.

    Parsons Technique with Téa Pérez
    Tuesday, September 17 | 6:45-7:45pm

    This American Modern-Contemporary dance class explores unique shapes, dynamics, and endurance. Experience firsthand knowledge of the Parsons-style. For ages 13+. In person and on Instagram Live.

    Precision Jazz with Megan Garcia-Ziminski
    Wednesday, September 18 | 6:45-7:45pm

    Experience this highly stylized form of dance characterized by sharp and dynamic movements. Led by a former Rockette, Precision Jazz combines the rhythmic elements of jazz with a focus on technical precision. Character heels optional. Ages 13+. In person and on Instagram Live.

    Stretching for Athletes
    Saturday, September 21 | 12:00-1:00pm

    This class will provide you with the tools to improve muscular flexibility, increase range of motion, and stretch safely and effectively. Through a combination of techniques, you'll learn how to tailor your stretching routine to meet specific demands of your sport or dance style! Ages 13+. In person and on Instagram Live.

  • Open Technical Rehearsal
    Thursday, September 19 | 1-5pm

    • Watch choreography join music, costumes, and lighting as the artists of Parsons Dance prepare new works and returning classics, rehearsed live on the LPCA stage. Learn more.
