Parsons Dance is delighted to announce that Chanel DaSilva is the recipient of our 2020 GenerationNOW Fellowship, an initiative that provides choreographers with mentoring, financial support, and the opportunity to have their work performed by our great dancers.  A graduate of The Juilliard School, Chanel was a founding member of Trey McIntrye Project and has re-staged Hymn and Ma Maison, two Trey McIntyre works on the company. Currently a dance educator and advocator, DaSilva is the co-founder and Artistic Director of MOVE |NYC|, an arts and social justice organization whose mission is to create greater diversity and equity in dance.  Her work has been recognized with the prestigious Princess Grace Award, and she was named a 2004 Presidential Scholar in the Arts.

Scheduled to premiere during our annual Joyce season this spring, On the Other Side, Chanel’s GenerationNOW commission, is set to a score for marimba, bass guitar, and cello by composer Cristina Spinei who has previously created compositions for Nashville Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and more.

Congratulations, Chanel, and welcome aboard!  To learn more about Chanel, head over to chaneldasilva.com.
