Parsons Dance is seeking to fill positions for paid understudies and one full-time dancer to perform traditional male roles in the company’s repertory.

About the audition:

The audition will take place in-person on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Hunter College 6th floor studios, 930 Lexington Ave., 10065 (The nearest Subway lines are the 6 at 68th Street or Q at 72nd). Our studio will be open for warm-up starting at 10:30am, and callbacks will be from 3:30-5:30pm. Once registered, individuals will receive a reminder of their registration closer to the date of the audition.

Parsons Dance is a contemporary touring dance company based in New York City, and builds new audiences for contemporary dance by creating American works of extraordinary artistry that are engaging and uplifting to audiences throughout the world. The company performs in New York and tours regionally, nationally, and internationally. In addition to choreography and performance, Parsons Dance seeks to positively impact youth, students, and communities through student performances, lecture-demonstrations, master classes, post-show discussions, and more.

Benefits and compensation:

We value our dancers and pride ourselves on treating them well, with benefits that include an average of 42 weeks of paid work a year; extensive domestic and international touring; health insurance after 60 days with no employee contribution; and a retirement plan. Starting salary for dancers is $700 / week.

How to register:

Because all audition spots are currently filled, you may submit your audition information to be added to our waiting list. There is no guarantee that wait-listed applicants will be admitted to the audition; however, we will invite selected applicants to join the audition in-person on Wednesday, January 17.

All registrants will need to bring the following at the audition: Headshot, Full-body dance photo, and Resume. Please note that we collect some basic demographic data about all applicants, regardless of qualification for available roles, for the purpose of better accommodating and diversifying our talent pool.
