Last month, New York City Dance Alliance held its Discovery Showcase, a national competition offering scholarships to promising dance students. David was selected, along with BODYTRAFFIC’s Tina Finkelman Berkett and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s Glenn Edgerton, as a mentor in Concert Dance. Three other categories featured more dance luminaries, including New York City Ballet’s Tiler Peck, a mentor in Contemporary/Classical Dance; Hamilton Tony award winner Andy Blankenbuehler, a mentor in Broadway/Theater Dance; and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Emmy Award winner Marguerite Derricks, a mentor in Commercial Dance.
David’s assignment was to provide contestants with solo critiques and a Zoom master class. On June 6, after an arduous selection process, Carly Bocchino, who will enroll at New York University’s dance department this fall, was chosen as the Concert Dance winner. Congratulations, Carly!
