Parsons Dance looks forward to an active month of touring, beginning on October 1 when our dancers travel to Sandy Springs, Georgia to perform at the Byers Theatre. The appearance includes previews of works that will premiere at The Joyce later this fall, along with the re- staging of two beloved repertory classics that have not been seen for a while: The Envelope, the whimsical work created by David Parsons in 1984 and Shining Star, a piece he made for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre in 2004 that Parsons Dance first performed in 2008. Set to Earth, Wind & Fire songs and described by The New York Times as “a snazzy-looking, funny and sexy group dance,” Shining Star, still shines. Later in the month, the company returns to New York to perform at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts on October 15, where the program will include the first preview of Matthew Neenan’s Past Tense. Last stop of the month is at NJPAC’s Victoria Theater on October 22.
